For my audio project I want to put together a bunch of sounds that remind me of getting ready for a night out. This may include music, talking, drinking, makeup, getting dressed etc. This may be difficult as some requirements are for the sounds to overlap and for multiple things to happen at once. In order to pull this off I want a specific feeling of excitement in the piece but it also needs to happen in chronological order or things won't make sense. To create an auditory experience that can compare to the excitement, spontaneity, and blur of a night out I need to use recognizable sounds that are reminiscent of going out. This may include classes clinking, a bong, club music (maybe played backwards so that I can go around the ‘no music criteria’). Going in order from start to finish isn't the rule but it's my artsy choice. It makes the whole thing seem more real and adds authenticity to the narrative. Every sound is a building block, adding to the hype and letting you be part of the whole story. You're not just listening but a part of the story. The real puzzle comes in making sounds occur simultaneously. It's a bit tricky, but it's what turns the project into a lively, wild party atmosphere. It's about embracing the chaos, adding to the experience of so many things happening at once – just like a bustling night out. I think that I will be able to create a seemingly random grouping of sound and make it seem like a story and I think that this project with overlapping sounds and chaos is perfect for an auditory narrative about a night out.
