ARTISTS BIO
I started drawing after I saw my mom do it. She was talking on the phone and could effortlessly draw these flowers that connected with one line. It was mesmerizing. My interest in digital art didn't start until I started to see artwork being done on an iPad. I especially liked watching mandalas be drawn and the gradients of color that added an extra layer to the piece. Throughout the past year I have experimented with many different styles of art including pottery, sculpting, woodburning, metal work, photography ect. My favorite thing to do is calligraphy and digital drawings but I'm growing to like photography and the science behind the aperture, lighting and angles needed to create an amazing photograph. I really feel like the mediums I have the most fun with relate my analytical side to my artistic side. I do not have a lot of formal artistic training besides the lower division art classes taken at CU. I view art as an
ability to express things that can't be spoken or thought. As someone who has a hard time speaking when emotions come into play, I find it's easier to put these emotions into artwork. I often find that it's easy to get lost in a project and more often than not work comes with trial and error and my pieces often come out nothing like I expected. On the other hand, I often lose motivation to finish pieces because it doesn't look how I wanted or what I wanted to create is much harder to accomplish than I had originally thought. I think that this is art in itself though, my personal touch, the unfinished look. I like to create art more spontaneously than planned, though my perfectionism sometimes takes over and it's impossible to start much less finish some projects. I truly love collaborating in art, especially in the planning phases. Hearing the diversity of ideas is truly inspiring and helps spark ideas for my own projects. My inspirations are mostly fantasy and fiction, a very maximalist vibe which can definitely be seen in my past art works.
I believe my art is just a reflection of my life; things are incomplete, sometimes messy, I'm learning, sometimes I spend time and it turns out the way it's supposed to, sometimes not. In the future I want to find my signature style when drawing and sketching. I love that look of unfinished or in the process of being made, but still aesthetically pleasing and fun to look at. I want to continue my work in photography and pottery with a focus on digital photographs. I want to keep experimenting with different mediums of art and get out of my comfort zone as much as possible in this area. Ultimately, my art is a journey of self-discovery, mistakes, and an ongoing exploration of the world.
